The mod. 108 trimmer is a modular-type machine for cutting vines shoots in espaliers or G.D.C. It is applied to the front of an agricultural tractor and operates on the right side of the row. The cutting modules are rotating with 6 fixed blades and 2 rotating blades, arranged to perform a shears cut. The usable size of cutting is 750 mm. for each module. The advantages of this type of instrument are especially in the ability of developing high speeds of forward movement in the work stage (6-8 km/h) without leaving room for phenomenon of the vegetation being pushed out. In addition, the greater number of fixed blades obtains a better cutting quality compared to machines of comparable type, resolving one of the major shortcomings that was formerly attributable to this type of cutting system.
The frame of the mod. 108 trimmer has the modules mounted on a column unit whose position can be determined by the tractor operator through a series of hydraulic movements, specifically:
· upwards movement : 600 mm.
· lateral movement: 300 mm.
· transversal inclination in relationship to advancement: +/-20°.
The control unit of these movements is located low down (near the tractor joint in the area of the joint of the front ballasts) to provide the tractor operator with improved visibility, maintaining the centre point low, decreasing the strains on the tractor's joint.
The central cutting module is solidly mounted on the column unit, and the lower and upper modules can be inclined in relationship to the central one, so that the shape of the cut can be patterned according to the desired shape. The adjustment of these inclinations can be mechanical (and therefore predetermined by the operator at at the start of work and then always kept in that position) or hydraulic (in this way, the inclination can be modified at any moment, allowing for constant adjustment and the ability to rapidly remove obstacles)
The tractor operator performs the hydraulic adjustments through an auxiliary distributor fuelled by the tractor's hydraulic system.

		When working on culture shapes of dropping vegetation, a very useful accessory is a conveyor for shoots for the purpose of grasping the falling shoots in the area of staking and moving them towards the inside of the row. During this movement they are inserted in the lower cutting module and then cut. There are also double row (right and left) cutting solutions available for cutting on both sides in a single passage (mod. 118).
